![]() It can be a little bit frustrating though, with the unpredictable in-game physics leading to some odd incidents, with the deformation resulting in certain crashes at some points along the course. After a few laps the course begins to wear away leaving deep groves at the turns and jumps making the racing just that bit harder. The deformation of the terrain is a really nice touch to the game. While the riding may not be as fluid as what we’ve seen in the MX Vs ATV series such as Reflex and Alive, it’s still smooth and enjoyable. Using both analogue sticks the left to control the bike and the right for the rider’s lean, you can easily turn sharply or control your riders balance in and before jumps. Motocross bikes are of course menacing machines in real life, but thankfully in MXGP they are easy enough to control. The tricky courses mixed with a grid of twenty-two riders makes each race unpredictable as you get to grips with the physicalities of bunched riders and changing terrain. It’s intense and wonderfully challenging, leaving you mentally drained by the end of each race. Having a lot of content may be great – but how does MXGP play? Thankfully, it’s brilliant – the racing is full throttle all the way to the finish line. ![]() The only noticeable omission is split screen racing, which is a real shame. Or you can take the race online in the online season mode and standard races. There are plenty of offline modes to twiddle your thumbs trough including a fully fleshed out career mode, time attack sessions, and single grand prix and championship events. The PlayStation 4 version comes equipped with a few changes including four new tracks, deformable terrain and lighting and audio improvements.īefore you even jump into your first race you’ll notice there is a bundle of content in MXGP. You might remember that MXGP, which is the officially licensed game of the sport, previously released on last generation consoles earlier this year. The muddy tracks, tricky bikes and gritty racing are what I consider pure racing, and MXGP does a fantastic job in bringing that to the PlayStation 4. Despite not keeping up to date that much with the real sport outside video gaming, I’ve found myself to be quite the fan of Motocross. ![]() Make sure to enter your secondary number otherwise, you won’t be able to complete the process. Bri PS The lower two entries puzzled me, but it would appear that they are related to the Qnap virtual switch feature (which I have yet to read up on). When I get some time, I'll also have a deeper dive through it and look for any references to 'interface', or the likes. On my TS-453Pro, I see the below result returned: 127.0.0.1:9000 10.11.11.22:9000, 10.0.5.1:9000, 10.0.3.1:9000, The above is from a 190 page confidential document relating to Twonky 5.1 (and I was under strict instructions to seek permission before letting anyone else have it) so if you want to look at it, I'd first have to ask permission then figure out a way for us to exchange e-mail addresses (darned pest about the PM feature being disabled). This may provide some help by configuring the server or for troubleshooting' though unfortunately, it isn't followed by a section explaining what to do when there's interface-related trouble to shoot. The main problems I had with Twonky was that it occasionally advertised itself on the local loopback address and back in the day, that caused discovery problems on some control points, so I discovered that I could lock it onto the interface that I wanted by using the below command (obviously, that example shows how to lock it onto 192.168.1.20):Ĭode: Select all Which is there to 'Return the list of network interfaces (NICs), which the server has detected. My Twonky knowledge is based on the Twonky 5 and Twonky 6 days as from Twonky 7 onwards, they limited the ability to build custom trees (though you can still tweak the existing containers). I do still pop in and read, but I haven't typed much for a while (Qnap told me to stop posting Twonky tedium as I was scaring potential customers away ). do you know the command to allow ALL interfaces access to Twonky? Oh yes it is also 64bit too! not sure if that make much difference howvever Hi Simon. I noticed also Twonky installed on my LAN1 interface (default gateway) but not on my LAN2 port which i use for management. Toxic17 wrote:Briain, welcome, havent seen you for here for a while. It all seems to behave itself (no high CPU issues, or the likes) and I already had a few Twonky 5 keys from the olden days (when I used to discuss issues directly with the Twonky engineers) so I applied one and it all worked as expected (and I installed a slightly tweaked music tree changing the artist container to an albumArtist container). Hi I have just updated my TS-453 Pro and yes, Twonky didn't work, so I did a search and found the Twonky NAS build pages are still on the go, and indeed, the later ones seem to include various Qnap builds, so I removed the Qnap Twonky package and installed Twonky 8.3 (for my Qnap, it was the 'Qnap x86-64 package') from their site. ![]() ![]() The gears and brakes need to be serviced. In any event, here’s the main homepage of the Bkool Indoor app:Īt first glance you might assume it’s all videos, but in reality, each one of these videos is actually a threesome: It’s a video, a 3D representation of the world (à la Zwift), and then a map-view of the world. The logic behind splitting it out is that the more casual fitness crowd that’s using the Bkool Fitness app isn’t likely to need all the very bike-specific features like racing or more complex structured workouts of the Bkool Indoor app. If you buy a full subscription, you get access to both. I’m going to mostly focus on the more typical trainer app here, though I’ll briefly touch on the other bit. One app is essentially the Bkool that you know and love from yesteryear with races, group rides, outside video rides, VR rides, etc… While the newer secondary app is basically a blend of Peloton and structured workouts, with a substantial amount of Spanish classes. ![]() And actually, they’ve got two different apps. These days though, they divested their hardware business last fall, and now focus exclusively on software. Bkool:īack in the old days, Bkool sold hardware. Again, they’re all ordered alphabetically, and you can use the navigational sidebar to skip ahead to the different chunks. ![]() With that – let’s get straight into the apps. We could go beyond that and talk about how to get this stuff up on a big screen TV, and I did that a few years ago too, but for now, we’ll just focus on the apps themselves. Some apps even require two pieces of hardware (such as a phone + a bigger screen device). Each app varies on what platforms they support, but the vast majority of apps today support at a minimum iOS and Android, or Windows and Mac. Whatever it is, you’ll need at least one device. A computer, a phone, a tablet, perhaps Apple TV. From budget to expensive smart trainers, and my favorite accessories, it’s in there.įinally, you’re going to need something to run the apps on. Go check that out, it’s just as detailed as this post, except it’s about trainers instead of apps. I’ve got a separate post on that with all my recommendations. Still, a lot of you will have (or want) smart trainers. Most of these apps will have those models in there and you’ll be up and running with usually nothing more than a speed sensor. Ones you might have laying around in your garage from a decade ago. Virtually every one of these apps will actually work with so-called ‘dumb’ trainers, ones that don’t have any smarts at all. But it doesn’t have to be an expensive one. It probably goes without saying that you’re going to need some sort of indoor trainer here. In fact, I pay these companies as part of my monthly subscriptions, just like you. None of this is sponsored in any way, shape, or form. Oh, and finally – I paid for access to all these apps myself, or used their various 14-30 days free trials. And while I’m sure someone from missed apps may disagree, I think this is by far covering every one of the major and middle players of apps people are using these days. Ultimately, as I said before that I could try and get everyone on this guide, but then the guide wouldn’t ever happen. For example some of the one-person developer type apps like Arcade Fitness or The Velo Set, or a handful of others. Then there’s apps that are much smaller, but still might be cool for a follow-up in future weeks. ![]() One might also suggest OneLap – though given my readership here is 99.9% not in China, and that platform is 99.9% catered to the Chinese market (albeit with some rough translations for some parts in English). One could likely argue for PerfPro, or Golden Cheetah. – Peloton Digital App (sans-Peloton Bike) So, without further ado – here’s what I’m covering this time around, in alphabetical order (use the left sidebar to quickly skip to a different app): With Zwift at more than 300,000 users, the stakes are higher – as is the baseline. With that metric largely being driven by the userbase, and how often I actually hear people talk about it.Īs much as every company wants to tell me their app is most important, I tend to find if nobody is talking about it…then nobody is actually using it. While many of those apps do still exist and are now more mature, I’m going to focus this round-up on what I believe to be the Top 11 indoor trainer apps. Last time I covered some 20 different apps. This time though, I’m simplifying it a bit. But now that a lot of us are either stuck indoors, or about to be, it’s as good a time as any. While I had planned to write this last fall, that didn’t happen. Which is roughly how long I needed to recover from writing the last one of these things. |
